Dr. Chouhan chose the Nephrology area of medicine because of its complexity. She recognized the impact that treatment would have on a person’s life long-term and wanted to include that treatment with her transplant patients. Dr. Chouhan manages patients with compassion through individualized attention, care, and support. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Guajarati, and Urdu. Running, biking, and skiing are her favorite free time activities.
Dr. Chouhan completed her undergraduate degree in India at the NHL Municipal Medical College. She accepted an Internal Medicine Residency position at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Chouhan went on to complete two Fellowships at Tulane University, one in Nephrology and one in Transplant Nephrology. She is one of only three women in the Des Moines area to be trained and certified in Transplant Nephrology. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr Chouhan been practicing since 2011. She will be seeing patients at both of our office locations.
