JENNIFER L. THOMPSON, D.O.

Dr. Thompson feels education is important which is why she takes time to ensure her patients understand the cause of their kidney disease, the reason certain medications are prescribed, and why lifestyle changes are recommended. “I feel an informed patient will take a more active role in their care.” The quote “Of all the paths in life you take, make sure a few of them are dirt” by John Muir, is one that resonates deeply with Dr. Thompson. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and traveling.  Dr. Thompson completed her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She went on to attend the University of North Texas Health and Science Centers Graduate School Program in Biomedical Science, followed by the Osteopathic Medical College Program. She then accepted an Internal Medicine Residency at Texas Health Resources Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Thompson completed two Fellowships at the Medical University of South Carolina, one in Nephrology and the second in Transplant Nephrology. She is one of only three women in the Des Moines area to be trained and certified in Transplant Nephrology. She is                                                                           board certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Thompson has been practicing since 2017.                                                                               She will be seeing patients at both of our office locations.
