Dr. Buchsbaum was born and raised in Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan and completed his undergraduate studies in both Microbiology and Zoology. Dr. Buchsbaum completed a master’s Degree in biology before being accepting into medical school at Wayne State.

He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Sinai hospital and Nephrology fellowship at the University of Michigan. He primarily sees patients in our Riverpoint office and has done so for over 30 years.

Dr. Buchsbaum wants his patients to know that he cares about more than just your kidneys. He strives to develop a long-lasting relationship and hopes to provide the best care he can for you. He chose nephrology because of its challenging nature and enjoys reaching out to underserved communities by traveling to Pella and Oskaloosa to underserved clinics multiple times per month.

Dr. Buchsbaum is married, with three boys and one “grand-dog”. He is a big sports fan (especially teams from Detroit) he enjoys tennis, bowling, and golf. His favorite past times include playing bridge and collecting coins. He says he chose Iowa because it is a very comfortable safe place with friendly people.
