Questions to ask your Nephrologist

temp-post-image

Why am I here?

• That is the most common question we receive here in our office. It is possible you were referred to us by another physician, a hospital, or a care facility. You may not really be sure what is going on with your body, other than you are here to see a doctor. This is an important question to ask your nephrology team, so that you can be comfortable and understand your medical condition.

Why aren’t my kidneys working properly?

• This is also a common and useful question to ask your care team. Your individual case will vary but understanding your specific condition, and its potential cause, may help us get to the bottom of it and develop a treatment plan that works for you.

What can I do?

• Once you have been diagnosed properly you may be wondering what you can do to help your kidneys. This is a great question that we love to hear! When you ask, what can you do, you are telling us that you want to make the necessary changes to prevent further complications to your health. We may recommend medications, that you will need to take as prescribed, diet and lifestyle changes that you will need to incorporate, and additional testing, we will need you to take part in. Staying on top of these requests is a great way to become an advocate to your own healthcare. These three questions are a great way to understand your conditions and facilitate your care. We are here to help you every step of the way. Please call our office and ask the greatest question of them all… How soon can I get in?!
